State Bank of India, Bangladesh Operations Country Office, Dhaka Recruitment of Trainee Assistant Officers (TAO) in State Bank of India State Bank of India (SBI), with a 206 years history, is the largest commercial Bank of India, in terms of assets, deposits and profits and ranked 60th in the top 1000 “Banks in the World”. In Bangladesh, SBI’s presence dated back to 5th may, 1975, and at present SBI have branches at Dhaka (Motijheel & Gulshan), Chittagang, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, with an ambition to further increase its branch network in Bangladesh in the coming years. SBI intends to recruit young and energetic fresh graduates with professional outlook and satisfying various other standards decided by the bank, at the level of Trainee Assistant Officer (TAO), for its Country Office as well as various branches(existing and future), through a combined written examination followed by group discussion / personal interview. Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi Citizens for appointment as TAO in State Bank of India. Candidates selected are liable to be posted anywhere in Bangladesh. Based on the result in the written examination (WE) and group discussion / personal interview, bank will prepare a merit list of all successful candidates based on a standard decided by the bank and appoint them on the basis of available and future vacancies

/(2) till the availability of successful candidates in the merit list / (3) till the next selection process is completed. The detailed SELECTION PROCESS is as under. Schedule of Events 1.EXPECTED MONTH OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION: AUGUST 2013. (Actual date of examination will be communicated through the ADMIT CARD to the eligible candidates) 2.VACANCIES: Vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the requirements of Bank, as also various other factors like opening of new branches, etc.
3.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (AS ON 1ST JANUARY, 2013) (A) Essential Academic Qualifications: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Bangladesh Government, including graduation / post graduation in Development Studies of Dhaka University with minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 or 3.50 out of 5.00 (or First class), and the applicant shall consistently have the same result throughout his/her career, i.e.SSC,HSC/Under Graduate. (B) Age Limit: As on 1ST JANUARY, 2013 Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.01.2013 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than 01/01/1983 and not later than 31/12/1992 (both days inclusive) Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit can be considered in case of exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates.
4. SELECTION PROCEDURE: (a) Phase-I: Written Examination (250 marks) consisting of Objective Tests and Descriptive Test. (i) Objective Tests (200 marks): The Objective Tests with 2 hour duration will consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each as follows: (a) Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc) (b) Test of General Awareness, Marketing and Computers (c) Test of Data Analysis and Interpretation (d) Test of Reasoning (High Level) The candidates are required to qualify in the Objective Tests by securing passing marks, in each of the tests, to be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level for each category. (ii) Descriptive Test (50 marks): The Descriptive Test with 1 hour duration will be of “Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay)”. The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests as stated above in para 4(a) (i). (b) Phase-II: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks) The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category and the candidates in the order of merit, subject to 3 times the number of vacancies in each category, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank. (c) Final Selection: The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks maximum) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks maximum) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Phase II and thereafter, and the list of candidates finally selected will be available on the Bank’s website.
5. DATE OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION (PROVISIONAL): In the month of August 2013. (Actual date of examination will be communicated through the ADMIT CARD to the eligible candidates) The Written Examination will be held at DHAKA. Considering the number of candidates applied/appearing from a particular place, bank may decide to conduct examination at additional centre(s) and such decision would be advised to the candidates prior to the date of examination.
6. EMOLUMENTS: During probation period of one year the TAO will draw a consolidated salary TK.20,000/- per month. On successful completion of the probation period they will be placed as AO.Bank has been generous in deciding and paying the compensation package. The yearly outgo to the bank per TAO on CTC (cost to company) concept is around TK3.65 lacs, with starting basic pay at Tk13,000. In addition, the Officers are also entitled to other benefits like – (i) Medical Aid (ii) Home Travel Concession/Leave Fare Concession (iii) Concessional Interest Rates for Housing/Car/Personal Loans (iii)Bonuses(Profit Linked + Festival + Annual). (iv)Training abroad (India). CAREER PATH The TAO will be on probation for one year during which they will be on the job training and will be subjected to a screening process. While those Officers who achieve the predetermined standards may be confirmed and given permanent placement in the bank, others who fail to qualify in this process will be terminated. Bank provides immense opportunities for growth in the Bank. The attractive promotion policy of the Bank provides an opportunity to the meritorious and exceptionally brilliant officers to reach the Higher Management Grade in a reasonably quick time. In case of meritorious and deserving officers, training at our bank’s apex/regional training institutes in India is also provided.
7. APPLICATION FEE AND INTIMATION CHARGE: (Non Refundable) Tk. 500/- (Taka five hundred only) in the form of Pay Order in favor of “State Bank of India” on any schedule bank in Bangladesh and payable at Dhaka. (Fee once paid will NOT be refunded on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection). 10. HOW TO APPLY: GUIDELINES FOR FILLING APPLICATION: Candidates will be required to download and take the printout of the prescribed application form and Admit Card for written Examination, as appearing elsewhere in this notification. After which candidates are required to send the completed application with copies of all certificates / testimonials / experience certificates and fee in the form of a Pay Order drawn on a scheduled bank and payable at Dhaka. Candidate shall invariably mention his/her e-mail ID and Mobile No at the appropriate place of the application form. It will help him/her in getting call letter/interview advices etc. by email.
The completed (1) Application form, (2) Admit Card, (3) Copies of testimonials, certificates(with self attestation), (4) Pay order, (5) required number of photographs, shall be stapled and entered inside an envelope and supersribe with “ APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF TRAINEE ASSISTANT OFFICER IN SBI”, and addressed to: The Assistant Manager (HR) State Bank of India Bangladesh Operations Country Office , Uday Tower (1st floor) 57/57A, Uday Tower, Gulshan Avenue Dhaka-1212 (Bangladesh) The envelope containing application and other documents as described above may be sent by Courier, Registered Post or dropped in the box kept for this purpose at the above mentioned address. Please note that no application received after the date as mentioned in the advertisement will be entertained. Note: a. In case of selection, candidates will be required to produce proper discharge certificate from the employer at the time of taking up the appointment. d) CALL LETTERS FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The call letter and an “acquaint yourself” booklet will sent by post / courier to all the candidates to their present address as mentioned in the application. Additionally, it will be sent by mail to all candidates whose e-mail ID are mentioned in the application. Note: The candidates must bring one photo identity proof such as passport / National (ID) Card/TIN / Driving License/Identity Card issued by School or College / Gazetted Officer in the official letterhead in original as well as a self attested Photocopy thereof. The photocopy of Identity proof should be submitted along with call letter to the invigilators in the examination hall, failing which or if identity of candidates is in doubt the candidate will not be permitted to appear for the test.
e) ACTION AGAINST CANDIDATES FOUND GUILTY OF MISCONDUCT: Candidates are cautioned that they should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered/ fabricated and they should not suppress any material information while filling up the application form. At the time of written examination/interview, if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty of: (i) using unfair means during the examination or (ii) impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person or (iii) misbehaving in the examination hall or (iv) resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with his/her candidature for selection or (v) obtaining support for his/her candidature by any unfair means, such a candidate may, in addition to rendering himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution, will also be liable : a) to be disqualified from the examination for which he/she is a candidate b) to be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period, from any examination or recruitment conducted by Bank. Note: The Bank would be analysing the responses of a candidate with other appeared candidates to detect patterns of similarity. On the basis of such an analysis, if it is found that the responses have been shared and scores obtained are not genuine / valid, the Bank reserves the rights to cancel his/her candidature.
f) USE OF MOBILE PHONES, PAGERS, CALCULATOR OR ANY SUCH DEVICES: (a) Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action including ban from future examinations. (b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned item including mobile phones/ pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangement for safekeeping cannot be assured. (c) Candidates are not permitted to use or have in possession of calculators in examination premises. g) GENERAL INFORMATION: (i) Candidates should satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the post applied for. The Bank would admit to the written test all the candidates applying for the posts with the requisite fee on the basis of the information furnished in the application and shall determine their eligibility only at the time of interview. (ii) Candidates are advised in their own interest to apply much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date, so that it reaches to the bank well within the last date. Bank will not consider any application reaches after the last date even for postal delay / delay by the courier company.
(iii) IN CASE IT IS DETECTED AT ANY STAGE OF RECRUITMENT THAT A CANDIDATE DOES NOT FULFIL THE ELIGIBILITY NORMS AND / OR THAT HE / SHE HAS FURNISHED ANY INCORRECT / FALSE INFORMATION OR HAS SUPPRESSED ANY MATERIAL FACT(S), HIS / HER CANDIDATURE WILL STAND CANCELLED. IF ANY OF THESE SHORTCOMINGS IS / ARE DETECTED EVEN AFTER APPOINTMENT, HIS /HER SERVICES ARE LIABLE TO BE TERMINATED. (iv) Candidates are advised to keep their e-mail ID alive for receiving advices, viz. call letters/Interview advices etc. (vi) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to his /her being declared medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank.
(vii) DECISIONS OF BANK IN ALL MATTERS REGARDING ELIGIBILITY, CONDUCT OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION, OTHER TESTS AND SELECTION WOULD BE FINAL AND BINDING ON ALL CANDIDATES. NO REPRESENTATION OR CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE ENTERTAINED BY THE BANK IN THIS REGARD.
(viii) Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this notification and/or an application in response thereto can be instituted only in Dhaka and courts/tribunals/forums at Dhaka only shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction to try any cause/dispute.
